The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) is conducting a one-week capacity-building workshop on the Kenya National TVET Quality Assurance Framework and Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) System for trainers at Wote Technical and Vocational Training College.

The training aims to strengthen participants’ understanding and practical application of quality assurance principles, processes and standards to enhance the quality and relevance of training delivery.

Key areas covered include the rationale and benefits of TVET quality assurance; the quality assurance cycle and ability model; the Input-Process-Output (IPO) model; quality assurance framework enablers and elements; and the Quality Standards Indicators for TVET Providers.

Participants are also being equipped with practical skills in Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) curriculum support, development and review of IQA policies, preparation for quality evaluation, audit planning, institutional quality evaluation and analysis of audit findings.

The workshop also addresses developing IQA action and work plans, quality assurance for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), and strategies to overcome barriers to effective implementation of internal quality assurance systems.

Through practical exercises and simulated institutional evaluations, the trainers are gaining insights into identifying quality gaps, documenting findings and developing corrective actions to support continuous improvement.

The workshop is part of a series of capacity-building initiatives planned by TVETA for the current financial year to strengthen quality assurance across TVET institutions.

TVETA remains committed to building institutional capacity, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring that trainees receive quality, relevant and industry-responsive skills training.
