It is designed to provide the basis of a consistent approach to the development of assessment tools by assessment bodies, TVET institutions, assessment centres, assessors and verifiers. The Standard has specified qualifications of assessment tool developer. It has also outlined requirements of the development process of assessment tools including, planning, design and development, and quality checks. Further, the requirements for conducting quality checks of the assessment tools have been prescribed.

Standard: TVET Standard — Recognition and Equation of TVET Qualifications — Requirements and Guidelines

Description: Prescribes requirements and guidelines for Recognition and Equation of TVET qualifications awarded by local or foreign TVET institutions. The Standard prescribes general requirements as well as specific requirements and guidelines for application and recognition of specific qualifications. It also outlines qualifications that are not recognizable as well as the charges and the procedure for recognition and equation of qualifications.

Standard: TVET Standard — Industrial Attachment — Requirements and Guidelines

Description: Prescribes terminologies, requirements and guidelines for conducting industrial attachment in TVET sub-sector in Kenya. It prescribes the role of various players in the placement, mentoring, coaching and assessing trainees on industrial attachment. It also prescribes requirements for the conduct of monitoring and evaluation of industrial attachment processes.  The main sections of the Standard are management of industrial attachment, trainee assessment during industrial attachment, monitoring and evaluation and termination of industrial attachment.

It is applicable to all TVET institutions, trainees, Technical Instructors, Trainers and organizations that provide workplace-based training experience. The Standard excludes trainings outside the scope of TVET.
