Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), the regulator and coordinator of the TVET sector yesterday scored yet another milestone by reaching out to hundreds of TVET trainers, managers of institutions and other stakeholders in Webinar meeting to enlighten them on the new MIS system and the accreditation process.

The two and half hours virtual meeting was organized by the Authority to give an opportunity to the various stakeholders and voice their queries, concerns and any other issue the MIS system since its inception in mid-March this year.

The meeting, which was held on the Microsoft Teams App and was live on TVET Authority Facebook Page attracted the interest of over 4,000 participants who registered and signed up to take part in the inaugural virtual meeting.

However, during the meeting, which was opened by TVETA Director-General Dr.Kipkirui Langat, around 380 participants logged in and actively participated in the TEAMs virtual meeting while 4,754 participants followed the discussion on Facebook Live.

In his opening remarks, Dr Langat thanked the participants for accepting the Authority’s invitation to the virtual meeting to discuss the MIS portal and accreditation process and promised the agency will continue to strive to provide the best services to fulfill its obligation to stakeholders.

“We will continue spearheading reforms in the sector as per our mandate and work towards improving the quality of our services. That is why we have embraced ICT by moving the accreditation process of trainers and institutions online. With the support from you our stakeholders, we will improve service delivery,” Dr Langat said.

TVETA MIS is an online portal established to enhance communication and eliminate the tedious manual process of registration by trainers and TVET institutions. The system allows applicants to carry out the registration from the point of registration, through accreditation to the generation of certification.

During the meeting ICT officer, Evans Kimutai took the participants through the registration process and demonstrated how to carry out an application/registration process step by step for both institutions and trainers. He also listed the requirements expected and on how to carry out the payment.

The Manager for Accreditation Services Fred Oanda also took the participated through the accreditation process and responded to questions and concerns raised by those in attendance.

The meeting was moderated by Manager for Research and Development, Dr Otta Osawa.

Dr Lanagat said that the Authority will continue organising similar webinar meetings in the future so as to inform the stakeholders what the Authority is carrying out and also respond to their various concerns.
