Today, the TVET Authority, in collaboration with the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM) and NIBS Technical College, planted 300 trees as part of a nationwide greening initiative. In addition, NIBS received over 700 seedlings to distribute to neighboring schools and colleges for planting during this rainy season.

This activity is part of a broader partnership between TVETA, ICM, and TVET institutions aimed at planting trees across both public and private TVET institutions. The initiative supports the Government of Kenya’s ambitious goal to grow 15 billion trees by 2032.

Speaking at the event, TVETA Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. James Momanyi—representing CEO Mr. Timothy Nyongesa Katiambo—reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to environmental stewardship:

“Tree planting is part of our resolve to green the TVET ecosystem for a cleaner, healthier environment. We will continue working with partners to reinforce our shared commitment to conservation and climate resilience.”

ICM Regional Director for Africa, Mr. Kevin Osundwa, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, noting that environmental conservation is a key pillar of ICM’s Corporate Social Responsibility. He thanked NIBS for hosting the initiative and providing space for the exercise.

NIBS Head of Administration, Mr. Allan Njenga, appreciated the recognition and pledged to nurture the seedlings while instilling a tree-planting culture among trainees.

📍 Tomorrow, TVETA and ICM will continue the first phase of this initiative at Molo Technical and Vocational College.

Together, we’re growing a greener future—one tree at a time! 🌳🇰🇪
