The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) today hosted a delegation from the Federation of Kenya Employers for a bilateral engagement aimed at strengthening quality apprenticeship systems in Kenya.
The discussions focused on aligning the proposed Quality Apprenticeship Guidelines with existing TVET quality assurance, accreditation, and regulatory frameworks to ensure structured, industry-responsive, and employer-led apprenticeship programmes.
Key areas of engagement included:
✅ Strategic alignment and regulation to ensure the guidelines complement existing regulatory frameworks
✅ Inclusivity and diversity with emphasis on reaching marginalized and vulnerable groups
✅ Strengthening accreditation and quality assurance mechanisms for apprenticeship programmes
The engagement underscored the shared commitment between TVETA and FKE to enhance skills development, improve employability, and strengthen industry participation in TVET training.
The FKE delegation included Erick Ochieng from the Advocacy, Policy and Strategy Department, Grace Kaome from Human Resource, and Project Coordinators William Wandera and Duncan Omondi.
The TVETA team comprised Dr Paul Wanyeki from the Compliance Department, Japhet Ng’eno and Alex Gikaru from Accreditation, as well as Cynthia Sutek from Corporate Communication.
