The Acting Director General of TVET Authority, Mr. Timothy Nyongesa Katiambo, today hosted a delegation from the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the African Union Commission (AUC), and the Kenya National Civil Society Centre (KNCSC), who The discussions focused on areas of collaboration in the implementation of the International Migration Project in Africa, with a key emphasis on supporting the economic reintegration of returnee women migrant workers. This will be achieved through recognition of prior learning (RPL), capacity building, skills training, and support for entrepreneurship and employment pathways. The project, led by UNECA in collaboration with the AUC, is being implemented in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda, and seeks to strengthen the capacity of returnees for economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.
During the meeting, Mr. Katiambo briefed the delegation on the TVET subsector in Kenya and highlighted the Authority’s mandate in regulating and coordinating technical and vocational training. The visiting team was led by Ms. Keiso Matashane (UNECA) and included Edna Akulla, Judith Oduol, Anne Mulama, Michael Liyogo, Anistide Sonida, Deborah Abebe, Robera Girma, and Suba Churchill (KNCSC).
