The EASTRIP SDTVET/World Bank Mission has commenced its closing implementation support mission and National Steering Committee (NSC) meetings with a site visit to Kisumu National Polytechnic, home to the KSh 1.2 billion World Bank-funded East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP).
Designated as the Regional Flagship TVET Institute for Textile Technology (RFTITT), the institution is strengthening specialised skills development to support the textile industry and regional integration.
The mission, comprising World Bank officials, NSC members, the National Project Coordinating Unit and representatives of the five Regional Flagship TVET Institutes, toured the textile and ginnery factory, student accommodation, classrooms and workshops to assess project implementation progress.
The team subsequently held a consultative meeting with EASTRIP stakeholders to review implementation progress, address outstanding issues and provide guidance ahead of the project’s scheduled closure on 31 December 2026.
The TVET Authority Ag. Director General Timothy Katiambo also graced the function.
The mission will proceed to Naivasha for tomorrow’s a site visit to KenGen’s Geothermal Training Centre, followed by the Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT), the regional flagship institution specialising in highways technology, to assess progress and project implementation.
These engagements underscore the importance of strategic partnerships in strengthening TVET infrastructure, advancing specialised skills development and preparing a skilled workforce to meet Kenya’s and the region’s evolving industry needs.
