The Eldoret National Polytechnic has officially been accredited as an Open Distance Electronic Learning (ODeL) Centre by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
This recognition follows rigorous training and verification of standards, confirming TENP’s readiness to roll out high-quality digital and technical courses. The first approved programs include Website Developer Level 4 and Computer Designer Level 4, setting the pace for future innovations.
Speaking during the accreditation, TVETA Assistant Director Standards Development, Paul Muriithi, emphasized the importance of reaching trainees both locally and internationally, urging the institution to develop programs that transcend borders. He also highlighted TVETA’s commitment to monitoring the quality of both physical and online programs, while encouraging trainers to prepare excellent digital content that can generate revenue and enhance skills development.
Special appreciation goes to the Commonwealth of Learning for sponsoring the equipping of 29 national polytechnics and four special needs technical institutions with digital competencies to support ODeL programs.
TENP Principal, Dr. Charles Koech, affirmed the institution’s commitment to meeting market demands by expanding accredited programs, while ODeL Coordinator Vincent Sabulei reiterated the polytechnic’s adherence to all TVETA and regulatory requirements. Already, 28 trainers have been trained and capacity building extended to many others within the institution.
With this accreditation, TENP is poised to transform digital learning in Kenya and beyond.
