The TVET Authority (TVETA) today hosted a delegation from the Defence Forces Technical College (DEFTEC) for a benchmarking and learning session focused on the establishment of ISO standards and Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) systems.

The delegation, led by Colonel David Ojwang, was received by Acting Director General Timothy Katiambo alongside senior TVETA officials. Discussions centred on strengthening DEFTEC’s IQA framework, aligning training systems with national standards, and operationalising ISO certification processes in collaboration with the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).

During the session, TVETA experts shared quality assurance manuals, training standards, and best practices to support DEFTEC in developing robust and compliant IQA systems. The Authority also committed to providing capacity-building support through targeted training for DEFTEC staff on IQA implementation.

Mr. Katiambo reaffirmed TVETA’s commitment to partnering with institutions to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and delivery of quality, industry-relevant training.

Colonel Ojwang expressed appreciation for the guidance provided, noting that the engagement had addressed key challenges. He reiterated DEFTEC’s commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to the TVET Act in advancing high-quality technical training.

The DEFTEC delegation included Lt. Col. Daniel Tanui, Lt. Col. Jane Kigen, Lt. Col. Paul Muli, Major B. Matolo, Major Ogendi, and WoT A. Musyoki. TVETA technical team members present were drawn from Accreditation, Standards, Outreach, and Corporate Communications departments.
