The Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), in partnership with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), today continues Week Three of the ongoing capacity-building programme on the Open, Distance and e-Learning (ODeL) Standard.
This afternoon, over 600 TVET trainers nominated by 30 National Polytechnics and 4 Special Needs TVET Institutions (SNTVETs) will participate in a virtual session on “Content Development Tools for a Moodle-based Learning Management System (LMS)”, with a focus on designing engaging, effective and learner-centred digital learning experiences.
The session will be facilitated by Mr. Joseph Orina Makori, the National ODeL in TVET Lead, Kenya School of TVET (KSTVET). The training will cover practical approaches to online course design, including lesson structuring, integration of multimedia content, and the development of activities that support both self-paced and instructor-led learning.
Participants will engage with hands-on examples such as H5P interactive activities, including quizzes, drag-and-drop exercises and interactive videos—as well as Moodle’s built-in tools such as assignments, discussion forums and feedback activities to enhance assessment, collaboration and continuous learner interaction.
The overall objective of the training is to support the development of well-structured, interactive and accessible online courses, aligned with instructional design, best practices and suitable for both online and blended learning environments.
Through this initiative, TVETA continues to strengthen institutional capacity in digital content development and advance quality-assured delivery of TVET through ODeL.
