Eng. Dr. Edward O.V. Odhong has over 3 decades in TVET based training and work experience, having graduated with a Diploma in Automotive Engineering from the then Kenya Polytechnic in 1991. He has been well trained in Engineering and Technology thus holding Bachelor of Technology, Masters Degree and PhD, all in Mechanical Engineering.

From 1992 to 2012, he participated and supervised on job training / apprenticeship for Motor vehicle mechanics, Plumbers, Auto-electricians, Welders, Machinists, Panel beaters, Spray painters, Power plant mechanics, Drillers among others while in the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and also while serving in National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation as a Mechanical Engineer / Senior Superintendent Mechanical.
Engineer Dr. Odhong has designed, fabricated, installed, implemented and supervised several engineering projects (of small and medium capital) including those for community water supplies under National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation, and also building engineering services works while engaged in GreenTec Engineering Consulting Firm.

Engineer Dr. Odhong has been actively involved in curriculum development and implementation at the levels of Diploma, Degree, Masters and PhD for the last thirteen years. His latest assignment was being a team leader for the development of PhD in Mechanical Engineering Curriculum of Multimedia University of Kenya. The curriculum has passed all stages and has been mounted this month as can be seen from MMU website. He is also currently outsourced by Machakos University and given assignment to lead a team to develop MSc Curriculum in Mechanical Engineering of Machakos University.

From the year 2015, Engineer Dr. Odhong has been a member of Multimedia University Senate representing Faculty of Engineering and Technology. He was also appointed to be the Chair of department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering in 2021 for a three year period (renewable). He has been appointed to act as Dean of faculty of Engineering and Technology in Multimedia University of Kenya severally.
Engineer Dr. Odhong has supervised Postgraduate students and is currently supervising two MSc students of Mechanical Engineering who are likely to graduate this year, 2024. Engineer has also won grants for research including internal research grants in Multimedia University of Kenya and NRF research grants.

He is an accomplished researcher in Materials Engineering, especially behaviour, properties and characteristics of engineering materials, material strengths, micro-morphological investigation of materials, material recycling as well as composite materials. He is widely published in those research areas.

Engineer Dr. Odhong is registered by Engineers Board of Kenya as professional mechanical engineer and he is also a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya as well as a fellow of Institution of Engineering Technologists of Kenya.

Engineer Dr. Odhong brings to TVETA Board a wide experience involving direct engagement as well as participation on TVET spanning a period of 40 years starting from a National Technical High School, practical training in a National Polytechnic, a Bachelor of Technology Training, fit for purpose Occupational Skills and Standards accumulated over very many years of service, best engineering practice as a licensed practicing professional engineer, over twelve (12) years of curriculum development expertise coupled with postgraduate student supervision together with advanced research skills acquired continuously for over 13 years.
