Dear fellow Kenyans.
In the last few weeks, TVET Authority (TVETA) has been receiving a barrage of questions and concerns on the shortlisting, interviewing and deployment of TVET trainers in the aftermath of two adverts by PSC declaring 2,000 training vacancies in various TVET colleges across the country.
Kindly note that TVET Authority is not involved in the shortlisting and interviewing of the trainers. Our role is only restricted to issuance of registration certificates to successful applicants who meet the set criteria as TVET trainers.
As for the issuance of registration certificates, we are sorry that the exercise has dragged but we are currently working round the clock to prepare TVET certificates for all the trainers who have applied and meet all the set criteria.
For those who will be successful in the recruitment exercise, the process will be fast-track to ensure they have the certificates before they are deployed to train in their respective colleges.
We appreciate and thank all of you for your understanding and continued support, especially now when we are trying to put in place systems and structures that will make the registration of trainers in future faster and effortless.

The weekend debate: Are we progressing well in the TVET sector?
Statistics from the just released KUCCPS placement of students to TVET institutions shows that Female students have for the first time overtaken their male counterparts in science courses after taking more slots in science fields in middle -level colleges.
The KUCCPS data shows more female students will this year pursue science and mathematics courses compared to males.
In this year's placement, 58,851 students were enrolled under government sponsorship to pursue courses in technical and vocational institutions.
In mathematics 2,166 students are female and 1,372 are male, while in sciences 8,115 are female and 3,000 are male.
The science enrollments show that in every 10 students seven are female and three male.
However, placement at the university’s STEM programmes shows a big disparity in favour of male students in engineering where 80 per cent of those enrolled are male and 20 per cent female.
